Our Homestead House brand mineral paint comes in quart size cans—perfect for large projects such as kitchen cabinets and large furniture projects. It can even be used for interior walls!
This mineral paint boasts zero VOCs, durability, strength, and is environmentally safe. Giving a flat, chalk-like finish to mimic the Homestead House milk paint line, this 100% acrylic resin paint requires little to no priming, sanding, or topcoat!
Mineral paint can be applied to almost any previously painted or coated surface with minimal priming or prep work. All that is required is to remove any previous waxes or grease from your surface prior to painting. If the surface is heavily varnished, a light sanding with a medium to fine sandpaper may be required.
This paint can also be distressed or polished with clear or coloured waxes for vintage and antique effects.
With the use of our Bonding Agent, mineral paint can be applied to a variety of surfaces such as glass or metal to create fun crafts or revive old metal garden furniture.
After this paint has cured, it is highly durable and has a washable finish without adding a topcoat to it. You may of course add a beautiful lustre with one of our furniture waxes added on top. Or for a scrubbable finish, use our no VOC Tough Coat.
The Paint will dry to the touch after 2 hours, re coat after 4 hours. Cure time with all acrylic paints is 21 days, however painted surfaces can be used gently after 24-48 hours of drying.
Mineral paint also has excellent coverage. In most cases one coat is all you need. One-quart coverage is 150 square feet. For example that’s a large armoire, a small dresser, two sides tables and 4 chairs. A little goes a long way!
We have a number of different colours available in store, however we can also colour match any brand colour you like at no extra cost.
